2 Year and 6 month doctor's appointments. Our week with Paige.

I'll start by saying that everything turned out alright and Paige is healthy. That way you aren't worrying or freaking out as you read about our week. Yes, I know, I spoiled the ending ;)

Paige has been sick quite often lately... She's normally a pretty healthy girl but since January it feels like it's been one thing after another. She's had a couple ear infections, diarrhea, throwing up (Poor girl threw up on her birthday!), fever, sore throat... You name it, she's probably had it. Paige was sick for like a week and half and barely got off the couch before our eventful week. Poor girl!

Last Tuesday I took her to the doctor after noticing she had some strange bruising on the back of one of her legs and a few other spots. The doctor was concerned about her being sick so much lately and the location of the bruising. He wanted to order blood work and rule out some things..some of the scary things.. like leukemia. My world stopped the moment he said that. You don't hear much after hearing they want to test your baby for cancer. The next morning she had her blood drawn and I'm sure you can guess how that went with a 2 year old. We left there being told it would take a couple days to hear. Meanwhile, I was trying to stay positive and I never had any "bad feelings" but it's still scary, a whole new level of scary. And since she had already been throwing up and having diarrhea the poor girl just looked so sick. Which made it that much more difficult on me.

Thursday afternoon her doctor called and said the results were "all out of whack" with a few things and I needed to rush right over and get them done again. They wanted to rule out hepatitis and a few other things... her potassium and sodium levels were high and she had extra liver enzymes. I took her in and they tried getting blood but she was not having it. They poked her a couple times, made me restrain her down on a bed and eventually it ended with "you will have to take her to another office because she's a danger to us and herself" I was TICKED! My two year old is a danger to you? Wait until you see what her mom can do...

We ended up getting her blood drawn at Phoenix Children's Hospital on Friday since they are experts with kids. They rushed the labs and 4 hours later I got a call saying everything came back normal. She just had a bad virus.

I can't even begin to describe how terrifying and exhausting last week was as a mother. They tell you "we won't worry until we know something" yeah, that's like trying to tell the sun to not come out tomorrow. It's going to happen. While as hard as last week was, I'm grateful for how much it tested me and pushed me as a mother, person and a member of the church. You pray a LOT when situations like that come up. I've increased my love for my Heavenly Father. I know He was watching over my Paige. Tuesday night after we found out she would need these tests I was able to go to the Easter Pageant rehearsal. It had a new meaning and was a different experience for me this year. I'm grateful for my husband who loves me even when I'm in my "mama bear" mode like I was last week. I'm grateful for my healthy, beautiful 2 year old who makes my world go round. A few people have now told me "every mom has some story like that". My mom has one for many of her kids. I just hope this is my only "story" for both my girls. I sure am lucky to have them both.

She won't need another shot until she starts school. Yay!

2 Year Update:
Paige still takes 1 nap a day and sleeps 12 hours at night. Both our girls are on the same schedule and it's pretty dang amazing! Knock on wood. Paige is such a happy, independent girl. She loves exploring and figuring things about for herself. She's so much fun to watch! And dance with ;)

Jade's 6 Month Check Up:
Monday, March 21st - 6 months, 5 days

No shots this time since she's been sick.

6 Month Update:

Sleep schedule: She's the happiest baby in the world! She's been sick and you wouldn't even be able to tell. She literally was projectile vomiting and immediately after was smiling. She's awesome! She still sleeps through the night (7:00p-7:00a) and takes about 3 naps a day.

February 2016 Pictures

What's New With Us?
Colton: Colton hiked Camelback with his friend Mark. He also got super sick this month and it took him awhile to recover.

Me: I started CrossFit. I LOVE it! It can be intimidating going for the first time so if anyone ever wants to try it out, come with me! You get a week free.

Paige: We took her on a date to go bowling for the first time. She would clap for herself and say "I did it" every time. Her vocabulary has just exploded. When she says "thank you" after you give her something she also says "you're welcome" Trying to teach your kid to be polite is hilarious. She loves the CrossFit childcare. Every morning she asks "go, gym?" when I get her out of bed.

Jade: Had her first baby food on 2/5, sweet potatoes and oatmeal. She's a huge fan! She started drinking bottles/formula on 2/23. She's also starting to roll around a lot.

Won't hold my hand during the movie but she'll hold my arm. I'll take it

Post nap snuggles

They play "together" so well

Falling asleep mid-play haha

Always gets stuck on her side haha

2/5 first real food. Oatmeal for breakfast, sweet potatoes for dinner. She was 4.5 months here.

this was her reaction to her first food!

Bowling at Fat Cats with our Pogo Passes

It took her a little while to warm up to it but she loved it!

She would sit down, want us to bowl it, stand up and say "I did it!"

She looks so comfy when she sleeps :)

2/6 we went to the Children's Museum in Phoenix with our friends the Holmstroms. We had a BLAST! Paige was obsessed with racing the cars down the track.

Painting the castle

He might have been having more fun then her here ;)

Yes, we all climbed to the top, which was 3 stories. Kill me now. haha!

Watching her current favorite movie... Tangled. She calls her "Punzel"

Crafts at the Museum

She loved the museum too.. or more like the toys we brought her.

Playing basketball at TT's house

On the days it's possible, the girls and I walk down the end of the street and stand there waiting for Colton to pull around the corner after work. Paige knows his car and she starts screaming "DRIVE WITH DADA" when she sees him

Paige at 23 Months, Jade 5 Months

Got to love a good snapchat photo.

Valentine's Day. Colton had his regular meetings but I woke up and make chocolate chip muffins... Since it's Valentine's Day it's totally acceptable to eat chocolate for breakfast.

When you say "Paige, smile" this is what you get. haha!

Paige's Valentine's Day hair

I find Jade like this 9/10 when I go to check on her. Gives me a heart attack literally every single time.

2/14 Valentine's Day and Arizona's Birthday. Prettiest sunset to celebrate.

She's obsessed with rocks lately.

She started screaming "help mama!"

Trying to suck her thumb

She loves spinach and acorn squash

Paige is constantly giving Jade hugs.

She loves being outside just looking around

Wearing her necklaces

Playing hide and seek. She has one hiding spot so it's really easy to find her.

2/20, we went on a family date to get donuts

and play at the park!

She saves the best smiles for me

First time on the "big kid" swing by herself

She makes Colton go down the slide with her. haha!

and he can't say no because look at that happy face!

The only way I can get ready without her destroying my house.

I had to stop nursing Jade :( Her first formula bottle was on 2/23

She's a bottle champ though. Holds it on her own.

Paige's new house

It has a cute kitchen inside

She makes us go inside all the time.
